This election, U.S.-style disinformation and foreign interference are flooding into Canada. It’s designed to divide us, mislead us, and tilt the election toward those who are willing to lie to win. And some Canadian politicians are playing along.
If we let it happen, we risk losing control of our media, our elections—and our democracy.
Danielle Smith told far-right U.S. media that Pierre Poilievre would be “easier to deal with” than Trudeau—giving Americans a say in our future.
Donald Trump said he “hopes” Canada stays liberal—while his allies quietly fund and boost right-wing parties here.
Pierre Poilievre spreads misleading clips, attacks Canadian journalists, and copies U.S. political tactics to build rage—not trust.
Meta and X (Twitter) have turned off fact-checking for Canadians. Meta even banned Canadian news—leaving disinformation as the only content many people see.
Foreign actors, including Russia, are using our platforms to stir chaos.
By signing this pedge, I commit to the following:
✅ Check before sharing. If a post is meant to make me angry, I’ll stop and ask: is this from a credible, fact-checked source?
✅ Use real fact-checkers like Snopes, Media Smarts, or Media Bias/Fact Check.
✅ Get news from trusted Canadian outlets—like the CBC, not just social media.
✅ Call out lies. Share the truth, drop a link, start a conversation. Silence helps misinformation win.
✅ Reject U.S.-style rage politics. Outrage is the tactic. Confusion is the goal. I won’t play along.
Canada’s democracy is under attack. Let’s make sure it’s Canadians—not bots, billionaires, or foreign campaigns—who decide our future.
Take the pledge. Share it.
Don’t let disinformation win Canada’s election.
Why I Signed...

I’m supporting because the level of mindless regurgitation and the heat filled rhetoric needs to stop. We need elections and campaigning that outlines plans, provides information and enables us the citizens to engage and discuss our future in a more calm, data driven environment.

I see so much disinformation stoking division and rage on-line that results in more and more polarization. I don't want to see Canada go down the same path as the US.

We don't need an American style government or elections. The right is always playing these types of games and we need to be smarter.

The amount of misinformation on social media is epidemic and very concerning. People make the most outrageous claims and others just go along with it, we need a way to combat it.

The right has made it ok to lie & misrepresent and misinform to win and that is not what democracy is supposed to be about.

Canada has long been a nation of reason and measure, striving to make decisions and be governed according to evidence and facts. The looming threat of a media take-over by right-wing friendly corporate entities is frightening and I pledge to do my bit to keep dis- and mis-information out of our mediasphere.

There are so many foreign influences, and internal ones, spreading misinformation, and disinformation, and attempting to influence our election! I pledge to help stop this, by checking that the information I share is from a reputable source, and continue to fact check!

This is the most important topic in the election. We must combat misinformation at all turns. We must ensure real and truthful information is circulated to all of the voting public.

I want to live in a society where all people are respected; where the harm done to First Nation peoples is repaired, where the land and wildlife is as valued and respected as is our economy. To me, these can only happen in a democracy.

I refuse to see the same mis and disinformation campaign that has corrupted the USA, happen here in Canada. It is already bad enough. Enough is enough.

Using media sources like the CBC and the Globe and Mail ensure I am receiving reliable news, but it is still imperative to check global sources such as the BBC to ensure balanced view and to not fall victim to misleading or outright misinformation. Thank you Forward Canada!!!

I’m supporting because I know Canada and other democracies throughout the world are being threatened like never before. It’s imperative that as Canadians we do don’t succumb to the fake news and propaganda that is threatening to destroy our democratic institutions. What’s currently happening in the US should be a huge warning to every Canadian!

Our best source of news are our own news networks, primarily CBC. I know that information on the internet can be false. Always check the source.
